Same Day Dental Crowns at
Station Square Dental

At Station Square Dental, we pride ourselves on helping you to build a stronger, healthier smile. Sometimes, a patient’s tooth may be lacking in structure, however we have a number of restorative and cosmetic dental services to assist with this. Just one of these popular services is our same-day dental crowns, which will restore both strength and function to your tooth in just one appointment.

What is a Dental Crown?

A crown can simply be likened to a porcelain ‘cap’ that snugly slots over your damaged tooth to restore its aesthetics, function, and structure. Additionally, a crown can be used in dental implants, where it is attached to a titanium ‘root’ implanted in the patient’s gum.

The CEREC Difference

Dental crown being created on Cerec machineIf you’re wondering what makes our crowns superior to traditional crowns offered by most practices, the answer is our highly advanced technology. Our experienced dentists are qualified to use a CEREC machine in-house, allowing us to quickly provide beautiful porcelain-based restorations in just one visit.

The machine is used to take a digital image of your mouth (as opposed to requiring a gooey impression) and this image is then converted into a 3D computerised model of your tooth, ready to be sent to an onsite milling machine. The machine then creates your crown in-house, with this process taking anywhere between 6 – 30 minutes, depending on the level of work required. Once complete, our dentist is then able to fit your crown permanently to your tooth.

Like all of our porcelain-based restorations, the crown is matched perfectly to the colour of your natural tooth. You’ll hardly even know it’s there!

Do You Require a Crown?

You may be the perfect candidate for a dental crown if you’re experiencing any of the following concerns:

  • Severe tooth decay
  • A tooth suffering from injury or trauma (i.e. it is cracked, broken, or chipped)
  • A filling so large it has affected the strength and existing structure of the tooth
  • A discoloured tooth
  • A tooth that has undergone root canal therapy
  • A missing tooth (or teeth), as crowns can be used in conjunction with dental implants
